What’s Happening Next:
Benefit concert planned for ‘09
While VeAhavta volunteers and Grace Care Center staff make plans to expand self-sustaining projects at the orphanage, some old friends, new sounds and classic rock will gather on Jan. 18 for a truly special concert performance.
Blues Infusion, whose members include medical staff from St. Joseph Mercy Hospital near Ann Arbor, Michigan, will perform a benefit concert at Washtenaw Community College. Two years ago, Blues Infusion served as the opening act for a concert featuring VeAhavta friend Mitch Ryder (“Devil With a Blue Dress On”); this year, Ryder will make a special appearance onstage with Blues Infusion, and will also appear at a V.I.P. pre-show reception. Premium Ticket holders can meet Ryder and will receive an autographed copy of “It Was All Right: Mitch Ryder’s Life in Music,” written by VeAhavta communications officer James A. Mitchell.
Themed “Give Love,” the event will include a presentation on the state of Grace Care Center and Sri Lanka, including a special musical message from the children inspired by George Harrison’s classic peace anthem, “Give Me Love.”
Volunteers will mingle with guests, sharing stories of their travels to Grace Home and the need for both sponsorships and donations to fund projects to help the orphanage continue to serve the children and elders who call it home.
The concert marks the third performance Ryder has given on behalf of VeAhavta, and Blues Infusion is returning for a second Grace benefit. VeAhavta greatly appreciates these artist’s giving their talent for this most worthy effort.
