The information provided on this page should answer most of your questions about being a Grace Sponsor or Child/Elder Sponsor. If you have any questions that are not answered below, please contact us directly and we'll be glad to help you.
How do I make my sponsorship gifts?
When you sign-up to become a sponsor, your gifts can be made automatically through your credit card or checking account, or you can mail us a check or a money order - monthly or annually.
Are automatic gifts safe?
Yes. Automatic gifts are safe and simple. They don't cost you anything, and they save us considerable processing time and expense. However, if you prefer to make your contributions by mail, you may do so by check or money order, and can do so monthly or annually.
Will you help me track my contributions?
Yes. Within 30 days after the end of each calendar year, you will receive an annual gift receipt for tax purposes, with a record of your contributions.
If I become a Child/Elder Sponsor, does my donation support a particular child or elder?
No. The money you donate is used to support all of the Grace Care Center programs. However, the amount that you donate, as a Child/Elder Sponsor, is the amount that it takes to support one child or one elder. We encourage sponsors to develop a special relationship with a particular child or elder.
How long will my sponsorship last?
The length of your sponsorship is entirely up to you, but it will be automatically renewed each year unless you tell us otherwise. Sponsorship is a voluntary, ongoing commitment to provide for the needs of orphaned or destitute children and elders, so we urge you to take your commitment to sponsorship very seriously and continue to offer your help as long as you are able.
May I write to a child or elder?
Yes! We encourage you to write. Through letters, you build a meaningful, personal relationship with a child or elder. Although he or she will most likely not speak English, your letters will be translated by one of our staff members and any responsive mailings will be translated into English, if necessary, before they are mailed to you. You may also send pictures and photographs.
May I send gifts to my sponsored child or elder?
As tempting as it may be to send a gift to your child or elder, please don't. Gifts can cause jealousies and rivalries and, quite frankly, any funds you may spend on a gift are better spent providing for the needs of the children or elders through monthly sponsorship. Moreover, packages can be charged a prohibitive import tax. We do, however, encourage sponsors to send flat items like cards, letters, pictures, poems and photographs. A card and a photograph on a child's birthday or on holidays would be particularly well received.
May I visit the children and elders?
Yes. We encourage sponsors to visit and see how your support has made a difference in the lives of the children and elders. To ensure visitor safety, it is our policy that all visits must be cleared through VeAhavta first. We will make arrangements with the Grace Care Center staff.
Can I adopt a child through VeAhavta?
No. VeAhavta does not facilitate the adoption of children from Sri Lanka or from any other country.
Who can I contact if I have questions?
