Opened on August 31, 2002, the Grace Girls Home is a permanent
residential facility located within the Grace Care Center compound
that is able to accommodate 100 orphaned girls from ages 5-19.
At the Grace Girls Home, our children enjoy opportunities that
they would never have otherwise received and they embrace those
opportunities eagerly and joyfully. By attending school or participating
in vocational training, each child is given the chance of having
a brighter future.
Each child at the Home is financially sponsored through VeAhavta
by "foster" families and individuals from around
the world. Please visit our sponsorship page
for more information.
Through
the Grace Girls Home, VeAhavta is able to provide all of the
basic material needs of the children. But as those of us who
are parents know, a child’s needs are far more than just
material. Children need love, especially children who have suffered
the agonies and traumas of war. And so, we encourage sponsors
to get involved in their child’s life – to write
to their child and, if possible, to visit her.
But among the opportunities we provide to our children at the
Home, perhaps the most important is the chance to form lasting
friendships with each other. The bonds that the children will
form during their time at the Grace Girls Home will last a lifetime.
They are relationships that will help each child grow in confidence,
work through the tragedies of their lives and begin to trust
others once again.
VeAhavta needs your involvement to continue to provide needy
children in Sri Lanka with a safe, healthy and fun place to grow
up. Please donate generously
to the Grace Girls Home or contact us about volunteering your
time. Your investment of love will be doubled in the love you
receive in return!
