Did you know that for less than the cost of a modest
night on the town each month – pizza and a movie – you
can help us save the life of an orphaned child or an abandoned
elder struggling to survive in the midst of a long-standing
civil war in Sri Lanka?
We know because we’ve been doing it for five years.
But right now, our programs are in jeopardy. We
can’t continue to sustain them without your support.
And we need that support now more than ever. Since the
tsunami, costs for supplies and labor in Sri Lanka have
risen steadily and dramatically. But unfortunately our
donations declined in 2006. As of the date of this writing,
our operating expenses are exceeding our donations, putting
us “in the red.” Unless the situation changes,
we’ll have no choice but to begin scaling back
our programs.
We cannot continue our programs without the help
of committed people like you – people who believe
that loving and helping others is more important than
just about anything.
What’s at stake? A lot. What
started out in 2001 as a plan to build a small orphanage
for 20 children with just $20,000 soon blossomed into a much
bigger vision. Since then, our programs in Sri Lanka have
expanded dramatically and now include:
- An orphanage for 100 girls
- Daycare for 90 refugee
children
- A park and playground
- A vocational training center
and student dormitory for over 100 needy students
- A widows’ empowerment program offering needy
widows grants and interest-free loans to become more
self-sufficient
- An 82-bed elder care facility providing
free, full-time nursing home care for destitute seniors
- Emergency medical and humanitarian aid programs
for victims of the 2004 tsunami
- An on-going refugee
relief program for people displaced by the war.

There is so much your tax-deductible donations
can do to help! Give up that one night of entertainment
each month and you can sponsor someone at the Grace Care
Center, like an orphan or an elder. When you commit to
sponsor a child or an elder, you’ll receive a photograph,
biographical data and an annual update describing your
child’s/elder’s progress. You’ll be
able to write and even visit your child or elder.
When you commit to become a sponsor of our vocational
training center or daycare programs, you’ll receive
a group photograph of the students/children each year and
a report describing the progress made in each program. Sponsorships
can be paid monthly, annually or semi-annually – you
choose what’s easiest.
And, best of all, here’s all it will cost:
$40/mo. ($480/yr.) – Sponsor an Elder at Mercy Home
$30/mo. ($360/yr.) – Sponsor an Child at Grace Home
$20/mo. ($240/yr.) – Grace Vocational Training Center Sponsor
$10/mo. ($120/yr.) – Grace Daycare Sponsor
If you don’t want to become a sponsor, please consider
making a much-needed contribution to any of our other programs,
or to “Where Needed Most.” You may donate on-line,
or download and complete our special donation form here
(Word or PDF).
Give us what you’d spend on just one night
of entertainment per month and you’ll save the
world for a person in need.
Please help the Grace Care Center survive so that it can
continue to help thousands more of our needy neighbors
in Sri Lanka.
They need your help now more than ever.
They deserve to be loved. And it takes so little to provide
them with what they need. Won’t you help?
Thank you. |
